Open Country Dairy’s Waharoa Wastewater Treatment Plant
OCD has invested in a new wastewater treatment plant with ICE Electrical playing a major part in this design-build project.
Phase one consisted of the installation of five new 75kW aquaturbo floating surface aerators c/w two otterdock safe docking platforms & a multi-function mooring system feeding a new Ultra Filtration system (UF Plant). This was installed and commissioned in late 2019.
In 2020, phase two began but came to an abrupt end due to contractual issues and Covid 19 both being outside of ICE Electricals control. Off-site planning work continued during the lockdown and once level 3 was announced ICE Electrical returned to the site to complete this complex and rewarding project.
Phase two had multiple challenges, not only with an ever-changing design but with vendor equipment brought in from overseas such as the Bio Flare plant that just did not comply with New Zealand Standards and Requirements. ICE Electrical took this challenge on, changed out all the non-compliant ATEx equipment, installed new IECex equipment, motors, hardware and associated wiring then had the new system fully inspected and passed.
